What is Anthem Whole Health Heroes?

Anthem Whole Health Heroes is an award program presented by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield to honor leaders in New York and the metropolitan region who exemplify public service and professional devotion as they work to improve financial, physical, mental, financial, and community health. The award program is published by Crain's New York Business's Content Studio. 

Can you tell me more about the awards?

The Anthem Whole Health Heroes are recognized during the Aug. 19 Mets game, awarded at an end-of-year event, and featured in a special section of Crain's New York Business. 

When do nominations close?

Nominations are due on July 12, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Submit your nomination using the online form here.

What are the qualifications for Anthem Whole Health Heroes?

  • Individual nominees: The individual must be employed full-time or be in his/her/their current business industry, for a minimum of five years.
  • Team nominees: The company or organization must have a physical operation in New York City (location criteria below), are a publicly or privately held organization, for-profit, not-for-profit, or a government organization, and have been in business for at least one year at the program nomination deadline.
  • Nominee location: New York City metro area (the five boroughs of NYC or Westchester, Rockland, Nassau and Bergen counties).

Individuals and teams are welcome to submit a nomination across all industries demonstrating how their leadership makes a distinguished impact towards the wellness of New Yorkers, specifically relating to any of the following criteria:

  • Leading the innovation of a drug, medical treatment, or new testing procedure as it relates to asthma, cancer, diabetes, or heart health, making a difference in screening, preventing, and/or managing any of these diseases for the good of the New York City community. 
  • Implementing (or having established) employee wellness strategies within their organization to promote mental and overall health.
  • Advancing financial health in their community. Have they demonstrated a passion in using their influence to advance their financial health within their community or for the benefit of New York’s underserved communities? This could include offering financial wellness programs to help individuals take control of their finances, reduce financial anxiety, and set them on the path to better health. 
  • Improving social health in their organization and their broader community. Used their influence to advance social health within their organization and broader community. This could include charitable or philanthropic work, sustainability efforts, etc. 

Who decides who will be in Anthem Whole Health Heroes?

The judging team is Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Crain's Content Studio. Crain’s New York Business newsroom is not involved in the judging or the selecting of the honorees.

How much does it cost to submit a nomination?

There is no fee to nominate. 

Can an executive be honored as a Whole Health Hero for multiple years?

No, Anthem Whole Health Heroes is a one-time honor. As a previous honoree, you are welcome to nominate a distinguished peer, friend, or colleague for this award. 

Can I contact you to see how my nominee is doing in the judging process?
